Shelford Fun Run 5k

5k RACE & 5k FUN RUN : Save the Date: 21 SEPTEMBER 2025

The fast and flat #ShelfordFunRun is a measured 5k course on closed roads through the villages of Great and Little Shelford near Cambridge.

The UKA registered 5k race and 5k fun run & walk are both chip timed and will set off in two separate waves on the same course.

For serious runners it’s a great chance to register a personal best.

For beginners and family groups the event is perfect! You can walk or jog at your own pace, enjoying the villages car free and savouring the atmosphere.

Whatever your reason for taking part, you will enjoy a great day out and your participation will help support the work of Shelford Playscape and CamRARE!

Great Shelford Parish Council are returning with their fun day elements to enhance the ‘race village’. So we hope to see you on 21 Sept for a #ShelfordFun morning whether you are running or not!

Beneficiaries

Your entry fees will be split equally between our fabulous local co-host charities, GREAT SHELFORD PLAYSCAPE and CamRARE. It’s also super easy to set up your own fundraising page – to help raise additional much needed funds in sponsorship for either, or both, of our charities with Give As You Live to mark your achievement!

Play for all is at the heart of the playscape you see in Great Shelford today, with inclusive design integrated throughout the process. Shelford Playscape continue to work with Great Shelford Parish Council to maintain and improve inclusive play & recreation across the Rec.

CAMBRIDGE RARE DISEASE NETWORK (CamRARE) unite patients, advocates, experts and innovators to address the challenges faced by people living with rare disease.  CamRARE are raising funds for their Unique Feet community group which provides activities and support for families of children and young people with a rare condition.

Volunteer

We would love to hear from anyone interested in joining the Shelford Fun Run committee to keep this much loved event going!

No running expertise is required, just an enthusiasm for inclusive community events.  The commitment can vary from helping to plan the event throughout the year (from arranging road closures to putting up posters) to getting stuck in in the last week with all the final preparations.

We also need a large number of on the day volunteers to help set up the event, register runners, marshal the route, photograph the event and help to clear up.

Please email funrun@shelfordplayscape.org if you fancy joining the committee or can offer a helping hand on the day!
